In June of this year, I was able to return to the stunning destination of Croatia after 10 years. I chartered a motor sailor named Corsario with the help of the best yacht broker, Rose Jolis and Denison Charters. I hosted my family and very close friends for 10 days of cruising among the 1000 islands of Croatia. The beauty lies in the hues of blue color water up against the red tile roofs of townships accompanied with Roman ruins. Croatia is located on the Adriatic Sea across from Italy and the culture centers around all forms of boating, ship building, and marina life. I put Croatia on my list of “need to come back” especially for my grandchildren and the dream came true. Treat yourself to a visit soon, and in the meantime, I hope these photographs and the Croatia Collection on my website offer some inspiration.

Welcome Kevin Reinhardt as this months featured artist. His grandfather Henry and my mother were 1st cousins. Relations aside, I know him to be a very gifted artist completely dedicated to the expansion and forward exploration of all materials, colors and forms that delight the next creation! Kevin Reinhardt
Kevin Reinhardt (b. 1990, Los Angeles) is a Los Angeles-based artist working across painting, sculpture, drawing, and photography. Trained as an architect (B.Arch, USC 2014), he brings a methodical, restrained sensibility to a practice defined by a broad use of materials and palette. He often moves between object and painting to distill familiar imagery into spare, totemic form.
The work itself is quiet and material-driven, built from unlikely combinations of familiar mediums: thread stitched into canvas, lead sheet folded as if paper, ceramic painted with watercolor. Recurring motifs include domestic and architectural fragments - drawn blinds, discarded formalwear, interiors caught mid-transition - all are treated as vessels for a larger before-and-after, inside-and-out narrative. Reinhardt tends to isolate these everyday details until they read as fixed, almost ceremonial objects, giving ordinary scenes an unexpected charge of intimacy and stillness.
Reinhardt has held solo exhibitions at Grice Bench (Los Angeles), Marc Selwyn Fine Art (Los Angeles), Half Gallery (New York), and 56 Henry (New York) which represents him currently. His work and writing has been featured in Mousse magazine, Galerie magazine, Cultured magazine as well as the Diva Corp blog.
Upcoming in late September at The Armory Show in New York with 56 Henry he will be showing new paintings of flowers and their shadows, all on slab built ceramic boxes.
